BUYING & MERCHANDISING

This project had a focus on Fashion Buying and the responsibilities that come with a Buying career. This was completed in Spring 2014, as the trends researched and portrayed are based off of the Fall 2014 season. I was required to be a Buyer for Nordstrom’s Men’s Department and to develop a new brand owned by the Nordstrom Product Group. The project began with research on tradeshows that specialized in menswear and I was then able to build a report of what styles, colors, and different trends were going to be prominent for the Fall 2014season. With this research, I could analyze the target market of Nordstrom and then create a merchandising plan accordingly. By looking at other brands sold at Nordstrom, I was able to create a new private label brand called PoLand.

 

This was a very fun project as it had a combination of aspects including market research, trend analysis, and product development. This enabled me to use a variety of skills in the completion of this project.
